Jacqui Tew - one of the UK’s leading graphology experts

Jacqui Tew’s long and varied career draws from a diverse background ranging from business consultancy to coaching and teaching. Her lifelong passion, the study and teaching of graphology, is the common thread that pulls it all together.

As one of the founding members of the British Institute of Graphologists, Jacqui really is a leader in the field of handwriting analysis. She provided strategic leadership there for 12 years and devised, wrote, and implemented the first in-depth, three-year graphology course offered in the UK.

Jacqui is also a trained therapist and best-selling author whose books have been translated into several languages. Throughout her career, Jacqui has often been called on to speak at events and consulted as an expert. She was regularly invited to provide TV, radio, and press commentary whenever graphology was seen to offer insight into current events.

Handwriting analysis – a therapist’s tool for psychological insight

Jacqui has an unmatched understanding of handwriting analysis. Recognising what a powerful complementary tool graphology can be for therapists and coaches, Jacqui’s aim is to use her expertise to help them gain greater understanding of their clients’ problems more quickly. By using this complementary technique, they can reduce their clients’ suffering.

Handwriting analysis is a long-established discipline that reached mainstream prominence in the 1980s. As an empirical science, based on evidence you can observe and measure writing movements and features. Graphology can be used as a means to investigate what is going on below the surface of the personality.

Graphology for therapists

Words do not need to be spoken to carry weight. Things we conceal from others – and ourselves – can be hiding in plain sight. If you know what to look for and how to interpret what you find, handwriting analysis can be an incredibly useful assessment tool for psychological insight.

For therapists keen to help clients who are unable to articulate past trauma or current issues, graphology can offer a fast track to the heart of the dilemma.

FAQ's

What is graphology?

Graphology is the study of handwriting. The way we write can reflect our personality and emotional state. It’s used by people who are interested in gaining greater insight into human behaviour. It’s used by therapists, coaches, and counsellors to help uncover unconscious patterns and deepen insight into how their clients think, feel and behave.

Handwriting analysis can help therapists reach ‘the why’ behind behaviour more quickly. Handwriting can reveal tension, self-beliefs, trauma, or vulnerabilities that clients haven’t voiced – or may not realise exist. By identifying issues more quickly than if they relied solely on more traditional methods, therapists can help their clients more effectively and efficiently.

Handwriting analysis is an unregulated field. There are plenty of providers out there who have set themselves up as ‘experts’ despite very little knowledge of the subject. A surface-level understanding of graphology can lead to misinterpretations and mistakes. Jacqui Tew has more than 40 years of experience in the subject – and created the original three-year course that defined the subject in the UK. Jacqui has updated and improved her courses over the years: others are little more than poor imitations.
